Rokeby Venus Scarf

This 55 × 55 cm scarf, made of hand-painted natural silk pongé, was born as an intimate dialogue with Diego Velázquez and his most singular work: The Rokeby Venus. It is the only surviving female nude by the Sevillian painter, an exceptional work in his career and deeply innovative for 17th-century Spain. In it, Velázquez moves away from idealized tradition and shows Venus from behind, human and real, looking at herself in a mirror.

This scarf captures that idea of contemplation and mystery. The figures repeat and are arranged in a circular rhythm, creating a composition that envelops you, just as the mirror envelops Venus’s gaze. The red background surrounds the scene and refers to passionate love, desire, and the emotional intensity associated with Venus, goddess of love. The green accompanying the figure relates to the planet Venus, traditionally associated with this color in classical iconography, providing balance, serenity, and an almost cosmic dimension to the composition.

Care

We recommend washing the scarf following the instructions included in the box. Use a detergent for delicates without leaving it submerged in water for a long time, let it dry flat on a towel, and iron on the reverse side with a cloth on top.

The scarf size is 55 × 55 cm and the type of silk used is habotai or pongé 08.

Shipping times

Orders have a maximum shipping time of 15 days once payment is confirmed, although if in stock they are prepared the same day or the next day from 10:30 to 13:00, once payment is confirmed.

They will be sent by express courier to be received within 2 or 3 days from shipment if within mainland Spain and 3 to 6 days if outside. You will receive a confirmation email when the item is dispatched.

No shipments are made on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
