Workshops to create, share, and reconnect
The ManosDeAgua workshops were born from my need to connect with people and share the deep passion I feel for my craft. I firmly believe that only by understanding what goes into a handmade product—the time, the technique, the silence, the mistakes, and the learning—can it truly be appreciated and help increasingly rare crafts stay alive.
That’s why in each workshop, besides the artistic activity itself, I show my process step by step: how silk is painted, how it’s set, how it’s prepared for a silk fan’s pleating. I also talk about the materials, techniques, their history, and uses, so that participants can feel and connect with the essence of a traditional craft.
At the same time, these gatherings stem from my belief that creative activity is an opportunity to form spaces for socialization and collective connection, a place to share, listen, and create together. Working with your hands and creativity is also a way to drain pain, to de-stress a mind so saturated by the pace of modern life, and to listen to oneself.
Because those who move their hands move their soul, and because I am convinced that everyone carries an artist within them with the capacity to create; all that’s needed is the time, space, and confidence to let it out.
