Bougainvillea Fan

Description

The Bougainvillea fan in painted silk features an elegant, delicate yet very dynamic design. The arrangement of the flower clusters, contrasting against the intense background colour, gives the whole composition a gentle sense of movement.

I carry out the entire process for each Bougainvillea Fan by hand in my own workshop. I start with the silk design: drawing and colouring the silk stretched on the frame, then setting the dye with steam in a steamer. I continue with the fan-making process: stiffening the silk, pleating it, mounting it onto the ribs, and the final finish. As a result of this careful process, the outcome is a unique, exclusive, fully handmade piece.

Care

It’s recommended to store the fan folded with its elastic band to keep the pleats, and to put it in its sleeve to protect it.

Materials and size

The silk leaf (the painted silk piece attached to the ribs) is natural silk, China crepe, initially white. The piece is painted on a frame before assembly with special steam-fix silk dyes, so the colour intensity is guaranteed to last with use.

The ribs are made from polished kotibé wood, or kotibé with the “aea” seal, Abanico Español Artesano. It comes in its case and with a sleeve.

The Bougainvillea Fan in painted silk is 23 cm long.

Shipping times

Orders have a maximum dispatch time of 15 days once payment is confirmed, although if it’s in stock it’s prepared the same day or the next day, from 10:30 to 13:00, once payment is confirmed.

They will be sent by express courier so they arrive 2–3 days after dispatch within mainland Spain, and 3–6 days outside. You’ll receive an email confirming the item has shipped.

No shipments are made on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.
